On September 17, a supplier-side piece of news came through industry media: SOFTSWISS announced it would release the fifth edition of its iGaming trend report (2027 edition) on September 29 at the SBC Summit Lisbon stop, this time partnering with WorldGaming and adding a cross-industry comparison chapter for the first time.
First, the weight. The 2027 edition surveyed over 500 industry practitioners, nearly double the previous edition; beyond its own analysis, it also incorporates market data from H2 Gambling Capital and recruitment and retention data from headhunting firm Pentasia. First launched in 2022, this report has accumulated over 32,000 downloads, making it one of the few reference materials in the industry that people keep following.
The biggest change this time is the addition of a Beyond iGaming chapter, bringing in Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a contributor for the first time, comparing the industry side by side with e-commerce, crypto payments, and streaming platforms: how growth curves play out, what pitfalls market expansion has hit, and where performance metrics differ. In the words of SOFTSWISS's vice president, industry maturity has brought complexity and cross-industry influence, and the scope of analysis must broaden accordingly.
For teams currently evaluating platform solutions, this signal is quite concrete: the benchmark is no longer just peers within the same industry, but mature internet industries. Platform stability, the efficiency of gaming API integration, and the delivery speed of one-stop platform systems — these hard metrics have long been the passing grade in e-commerce, and it's only a matter of time before white-label platforms catch up. Flipping through the practitioner survey data in the report can also roughly distinguish: which capabilities are already industry consensus, and which are just one company's sales pitch.
The SBC Summit Lisbon stop runs from September 29 to October 1, and SOFTSWISS will present this report on-site at Booth B501. Those attending can pick up a copy along the way; those already compiling a supplier list can also first contact us to calibrate the selection list against these dimensions first.
